People's Warden

RECTOR'S WARDEN

The Rector’s Warden is the senior lay leader in the church. This individual is a member of the parish council and is selected by the rector. In this capacity, the rector’s warden meets regularly with the rector. In the absence of a rector, the rector’s warden chairs the parish council and works with that group to lead the affairs of the church.

Current Rector’s Warden: Jim Krauss

PEOPLE'S WARDEN

The People’s Warden serves as a liaison between the members of the church and the parish council. This individual is a member of the parish council and is elected into the warden role by the other parish council members. If you have questions or concerns that you’d like to bring to the parish council, the people’s warden is your first point of contact. The people’s warden meets with the rector and the rector’s warden.

People’s Warden: Stephanie Layman

PARISH COUNCIL

Within the Anglican tradition, the parish council or vestry provides counsel to the rector and manages the church’s property and finances to support the mission and values of the congregation. Incarnation’s parish council is comprised of lay leaders and the rector. Lay members are elected during the annual celebration to represent the larger membership of the church. Lay members can serve up to two consecutive three-year terms.

Our Parish Council members for 2026 include: John Anderson, Emily Bryan, Alvin Chao, Nell-Marie Colman, Jim Krauss, Nick Kozel, Stephanie Layman, Karen Miller, and Scott Taylor.

PART OF A GLOBAL FAMILY

The Church of the Incarnation is part of the Blue Ridge Deanery, a network of Anglican churches stretching from Harrisonburg to Richmond. Our deanery belongs to the Anglican Diocese of Christ Our Hope, which is one of several dioceses in the Anglican Church in North America (ACNA). ACNA, in turn, is part of GAFCON (Global Anglican Future Conference), a global fellowship of over 85 million Anglicans—primarily from the Global South—committed to biblical faith and mission.
